Many are lamenting this decision online, with Spider-Man and Ratchet and Clank developer Insomniac Games also added its collective voice to the many. While the post does not directly mention Roe vs. Wade, the timing of the post could not be any more blatant.

Insomniac Games has issued the statement that the company is made up of “human beings who make games.” “Reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy are human rights,” Insomniac followed up the declaration with. And that’s the thing everyone must be aware of—games, entertainment, everything is made by people, and people are endowed with certain inalienable rights—one of which has been stuck down today.
As more and more companies speak up, as they are ought to do, many will no doubt ask them to stick to games. Insomniac Games is a great group of developers who have made hits the likes of Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. But they are people, and Insomniac Games seems to consider this decision an attack on those people and their rights to reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy. It’s good for Insomniac to stick up for its people, and it’s not a time when such a company should just “stick to games.”
Hopefully, instead, more and more game development companies speak out than just Insomniac Games. Statements from big names like Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo should be echoed by the voices of developers like Insomniac Games. Fans can reasonably expect these to come out over the next few days, and it should not just be limited to game development companies.
Every content creator, every company in and outside various industries, and anyone and everyone with a platform has to acknowledge how this. To not do so shows nothing of callousness and complacency in the face of attacks on American rights.
